IN the pretty village of Rotherfield Greys there is a row of houses called School Cottages.

Tucked back from the main road, they are full of character and are marked by a large plaque explaining their origins as follows: “The School Cottages were built by the Rev J R Roberts and left in trust to Trinity College, Oxford, in 1836. In 1949 they were restored and given to Henley and District Housing Trust by the family of the Hon Gilbert Johnstone and again restored in 1985.”
