Oh, what a lovely way to honour Great War heroes

A MUSICAL based on songs from the First World War will be staged in Henley and Sonning Common to mark the centenary of the conflict.

Oh! What a Lovely War will be performed by the Henley Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society in the garden of the Butchers Arms pub in Blounts Court Road, Sonning Common.

Guests can buy tickets for the show, or for the show and a two-course meal from the outdoor “field kitchen”, with traditional food including bangers and mash, beef stew and jam roly poly.

Robert Blues, landlord, said: “Everything is in place to make a great evening, so hopefully it will go very well and bring something good to the village.

“We have never done anything like this at the pub before but if it goes well we would like to do more events like this. It’s good to do something different and keep it fresh.”
