A GORING woman’s father who served in the First World War has been honoured with a commemorative beer.
Stanley “Blanco” White is one of four former servicemen who appears on the label of the West Berkshire Brewery’s Tommy Atkins ale.
His daughter, Susan Biggin, who lives in Fairfield Road with her husband David, attended the drink’s launch at the Allied Arms in Reading.
She met the families of the other three men, including the pub landlord Stephen Rolls, whose grandfather George fought in the conflict.
Sgt White was 18 when he volunteered at the outbreak of war in August 1914 and served with the Royal Berkshire regiment in Belgium.
