HENLEY Ladies 2nds’ hopes of survival in the Premier Division 1 of the Trysports Three Counties League took a knock on Saturday as they went down 6-2 at home to South Bucks.
Henley took an early lead against the visitors who were seven places above them in the league following a period of strong possession. The forwards Jeremy, Halloran, Fisher and Cousins created opportunities around the D and managed to win a short corner. Green’s strike was deflected up and over the keeper to put the hosts ahead. The lead wasn’t to last long as South Bucks equalised five minutes later.
Henley took the lead again through a well worked team goal. A long ball from Green found Halloran high on the right flank and her cross left Fisher with a simple tap-in round the keeper.
Player-of-the-match, Pocock defended well against her taller opposite number while the midfield of Heggie, Brown, Shaw and Lambourne worked tirelessly to convert defence into attack and support the forwards.
The 2-1 lead didn’t last long as South Bucks raised their game, scoring the equaliser and another before half-time.
