TWO late goals from hosts Old Merchant Taylors saw Henley’s MBBO Regional Division 1 promotion hopes take a further knock on Saturday.
The amber and blues took a while to settle into the game as their possession and territory was balanced against dangerous counterattacking from the home side.
Henley won a penalty corner and a well-executed move saw Tony Gaize sweep the ball home to put the visitors ahead.
Soon after Chris Green dispatched the ball into an open goal following a neat pass from Geoff Joseph after Ed Foster had played a 40-yard through ball.
The hosts came back strongly and pulled a goal back before being awarded a controversial penalty stroke. Roy Cox in the Henley goal saved the flick to ensure the visitors went into the interval 2-1 up.
