HENLEY 2nds went down to a frustrating defeat away to Newbury and Thatcham in a classic game of two halves.
The first half saw Henley demonstrate resilience and ability to soak up pressure. Key saves made by goalkeeper Dave Bowyer kept the visitors firmly in the game.
Newbury and Thatcham’s inability to pounce on several goal-scoring chances kept the two sides level as Henley’s defence managed to repel at times continuous waves of attack.
The entirety of the first half was not all Newbury and Thatcham’s as good midfield interchanging passes and pitch-stretching wing play challenging the home back four on several occasions saw the tipping of the scales back in Henley’s favour.
