OXFORD LADIES fought back to draw level with Henley 1sts at Jubilee Park last Saturday in the league, just a week after losing to the amber and blues in the National Trophy quarter finals.
Oxford were quick out of the blocks and within 10 minutes had overloaded the Henley defence to open the scoring.
Soon after a couple of slips in defence saw Oxford win a short corner, which they were able to convert to go 2-0 up.
This goal spurred Henley on as they began to attack the Oxford goal. Having lost possession in the Oxford circle, forward Tally Fisher, returning from injury, intercepted the ball and swiftly began a counterattack. Fisher passed the ball back into the circle where waiting striker Serena Hickman deftly slapped the ball over the oncoming keeper and into the back of the net.
Soon after a clearance from defence saw the ball passed out to midfielder Jem Barham, who in turn picked out Hickman on the Oxford baseline. Hickman brought the ball under control and was able to pick her shot from a tricky narrow angle to level the score.
