Henley power their way to title in five-goal rampage

Henley 1sts 5 Eastcote 2

HENLEY 1st XI welcomed Eastcote to Jubilee Park for a promotion game and their last game of the season, writes Roy Cox.

With fellow title contenders Ashford having completed their fixtures the week before, Henley knew a win by three clear goals would give them the MBBO Regional title and promotion to the Southern Premier League.

A draw or a loss, however, would see Ashford take the title and Oxford pip Henley into second place and the promotion play-offs.

Eastcote, runners-up last year on the other hand, were playing for pride having finished mid-table but entering the fixture with a strong side capable of causing an upset.
