STAFF at Shiplake College defeated their pupils in the annual Hockey Sixes tournament.

STAFF at Shiplake College defeated their pupils in the annual Hockey Sixes tournament.

Two teams from the hockey club’s senior squad, an alumni team and a staff team entered the competition played on the college’s astro-turf.

The Shiplake first team squad A side suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the teachers. Richard Mannix, senior master, slotted home a shot following a short corner. The teachers relied on mean defence and clean sheets to top the table.

Ollie Gould, who had previously played in the Old Vikings’ victorious 2012 team which was searching for its third successive title, handed over the Richard Maundrell Trophy to his father Peter Gould.

The staff squad comprised Peter Gould, Richard Mannix, Bob Snellgrove, Nick Brown, Tom Fitton, Jack Caine, Austin Kersey and goalkeeper Max Robinson (on loan from the first team squad).
