Roseff on target for Henley

HENLEY Ladies 3rds got their league campaign off to a winning start against local rivals Maidenhead.

HENLEY Ladies 3rds got their league campaign off to a winning start against local rivals Maidenhead.

The hosts started to dominate possession with the midfield cutting out balls and distributing and driving the play forward. With the defence also pressing high and supporting the team the initial breakthrough came early in the match.

With some fine interplay and passing, possession maintained, Karen Roseff went on a defence splitting run and shot from an acute angle.

Maddie Lawrence, making her debut, took control of the loose passes, distributing well and pressurising Maidenhead to win the ball, resulting in her being nominated as player-of-the-match.

The second half saw Maidenhead make much more of a match with their attacks penetrating the circle but not beating the Henley keeper.

Emily White, another new member of the team from the Colts, showed great positioning and interplay with her wide players, creating many overlapping opportunities and width for the forwards to exploit.
