Mixed fortunes for Henley sides at mini tournament

HENLEY Hockey Club’s U8s Academy sides had mixed fortunes in their Thames Valley mini tournament matches held at Wokingham.

HENLEY Hockey Club’s U8s Academy sides had mixed fortunes in their Thames Valley mini tournament matches held at Wokingham.

The year three teams — the Bears and the Antelopes — proved too strong for many of the opposing teams.

The Antelopes were unbeaten in all their matches thanks to the skilful pairing of Ben Price and Charlie Rolstone, with Lauren Hilditch and Emilie Dimmestol providing a solid foundation in the middle, and the ever-reliable Connor Botha and Abi Botterill at the back.

Botterill also played for the Bears who were able to carve out hard-fought wins through the energetic Cormack twins James and Chloe, with Evie Bell and William Arthur supplying resistance in midfield and defence.

Of the year two sides the Dolphins, despite not winning a game, showed good resilience against experienced opposition. The combination of Matthew Lawrence, Alicia Bennett and Mia Moore foraged well in attack and midfield while Maddie Moore, Adam Herbert and Kirsten Botha defended well.

The Cheetahs put the skills they’ve learned during training into match action and came away with a couple of victories. Outshining the opposition for Henley were Freddie Formon, Lucy Herbert, Sophie Farquar, Sam Phillips, Ela Chamberlain and Evie-Bell Wilson.
