Brown scores at both ends as development side hold hosts to draw

THE Henley Ladies Development side picked up a draw away to local rivals Wallingford on Saturday.

THE Henley Ladies Development side picked up a draw away to local rivals Wallingford on Saturday.

During the first five minutes, it appeared that Wallingford would over run Henley as they pushed forward and the visitors took time to settle. However, this was short-lived and Henley were soon competing strongly.

They maintained possession and territorial advantage comprehensively only to receive a setback when Catherine Brown slotted a Wallingford cross into the Henley goal.

Undeterred, Henley fought back, and continued to dominate the majority of the match. However, their penalty corners and open play attacks went unrewarded, being well defended by the home team.

Late in the second half, a well-worked penalty corner was put just wide of the post. Soon after the Wallingford defence was eventually beaten with the final corner when Brown’s shot found its way into the goal.

Matilda Money-Kyrle was voted player-of-the-match for her midfield performance.

Henley Ladies 4ths/Development XI: Carmen Austin-Hawkins, Mary Bowley, Catherine Brown, Stephanie Croft, Lorna Cousins, Hannah Holloway, Zoe Lane, Natasha Martinez, Matilda Money-Kyrle, Megan Parker, Mae Reineke, Daisy Stuart, Maddy Teboe, Fiona Woods, Val Woods.
