Hosts denied by late leveller

MAIDENHEAD hit back late in the second to earn a draw at Jubilee Park on Saturday.

MAIDENHEAD hit back late in the second to earn a draw at Jubilee Park on Saturday.

Henley began strongly, with Engelmark and Roseff combining well on the right flank. The forward line of Jeremy, Halloran and Butler created space and opportunity and midway through the half, Halloran fought for possession in the opposing D and beat the keeper with a clean shot.

Other chances followed as Jeremy hit the post and Halloran was unable to connect with Walker’s short corner strike.

The Henley defence neutralised the Maidenhead attack with Pocock, Heggie, Lawrence, Walker and Engelmark securing possession each time.

In the second half pressure was building as both teams conceded several short corners and neither was able to capitalise on those opportunities. Maidenhead equalised when from a free hit near the D, which was taken quickly, caught out the defence and the ball was slotted past goalkeeper Lavis.

Despite dominating the final 10 minutes, Henley were unable to trouble the Maidenhead goalkeeper.

Henley Ladies 2nds: H Lavis, A Pocock, K Walker, M Engelmark, H Jeremy, C Shaw, S Rogers, K Butler, M Lambourne, K Halloran, E Roseff, T Heggie, M Lawrence.
