HAVING come in to the match on the back of a disappointing loss in their season opener, Shiplake were eager to respond with a win.
The game started slowly before Henley College created a couple of chances.
Shiplake’s Year 10 Tim Herbert, playing with and against boys four years his senior, stepped in as short corner shot taker and fired in several attempts that narrowly went wide.
Midway through the first half Rory O’Connor opened Shiplake’s account for the season with a scrappy finish from close range.
Shiplake added a second when Harry Marsden took the ball into the D for Tim Herbert to score on his debut.
The pressure continued in the second half which led to a goal from O’Connor who fired in a shot from the top of the D.
The man-of-the-match awards went jointly to Tim Herbert and James Smith.
