HENLEY Ladies 1sts let a 2-0 lead slip as they went down to defeat on Saturday against Oxford 1sts at Jubilee Park.

Henley started brightly and after an attacking phase of play won a short corner, when, following direction from centre back Kath Draycott, Rachel Herbert hit the ball towards the left post where Louisa England managed to get a touch that lifted the ball out the the reach of both keeper and post player and popped into the back of the net.

Within 15 minutes Henley were back on the score sheet through Esme Emmett, returning following the birth of her son. Just before half-time the tide began to turn when, with just a minute remaining, Oxford reduced their deficit and clawed a goal back.

Henley began the second half well and kept Oxford at bay for a long period until the visitorsâ?? blistering pace began to tell.

Despite their best efforts, tiredness began to affect the play and Oxford were able to use their squad to full advantage as they ran in three goals to secure the win.
