HENLEY U10s rounded off their last Thames Valley Minis Tournament of the season winning all but one of their games
HENLEY U10s rounded off their last Thames Valley Minis Tournament of the season winning all but one of their games.
The Leopards and Jaguars were in action against Slough, Wokingham and Reading and both teams demonstrated how far they have progressed this season with some excellent hockey.
Buoyed by the presence of the men’s first-team coach as their manager, the Jaguars were out to impress.
Henley were solid in defence with Fergus Heggie and Stevie Rankin being supported by Georgia Moore in midfield to break down opposition attacking play. This allowed their forward line to put the opposition under pressure from the off.
The pace of Danny McAllister and Toby Phillips at wide midfield created wave after wave of attack with opportunities falling to Nonnie Luke, Amelie Palmer and Fabian Cheesman. Goals on the morning came from Cheesman (3), McAllister (1), Moore (3) and Phillips (6). The team secured victory in all their matches with the exception of Reading where they were caught off-guard by some strong, aggressive play from the Reading side.
The Leopards also only lost to the Reading team. Excellent defensive play from Georgina Ashby and Caspian Palmer enabled the team to build their attacks. Anya Marston and Starr Cheesman provided width down the lines, supported by the work rate of Ben Price and Lily Hoogenberg in midfield.
Up front, Charlie Rolstone and Thomas Harding created excellent leading runs to put the opposition goal under attack. Goals on the morning came from Harding (4), Hoogenberg (4), Marston (1), Price (1) and Rolstone (1).
