Brown’s strike not enough for hosts

THE Henley Development side lost out to Amersham and Chalfont 4ths at Jubilee Park.

THE Henley Development side lost out to Amersham and Chalfont 4ths at Jubilee Park.

The first 10 minutes of the match proved challenging for Henley as they did their best to settle with four new players to the team but two goals were conceded early on through a lack of cohesion in defence.

Henley dug deep and got back in to the game as the players worked hard for each other and attacks saw the forwards Steph Croft, Harriet Lewis, Penny Snowden and Sophia Wisely supporting each other closely which led to the amber and blues winning a penalty corner from which Catherine Brown scored.

Henley, who fielded only three players over the age of 17, fought hard and contested every ball but in the second half, another defensive slip allowed the visitors to score their third of the match.

On the flanks in both midfield and defence, Miffy Butler, Kiri Cheesman, Gemma Sarney and Sophie Snowden offered width and put in several good tackles. In goal Ann Clough pulled off numerous saves while in the centre of midfield player-of-the-match Orla Brown and Jodie Gutteridge covered a huge amount of ground.
