League leaders prove too strong for hosts

HENLEY’S good start to the season was halted by league leaders Old Georgians at Jubilee Park

HENLEY’S good start to the season was halted by league leaders Old Georgians at Jubilee Park last Saturday.

The amber and blues started the game well but went 1-0 down early on. Shortly after, the in-form Chris Green smashed home an equaliser for the hosts.

Old Georgians’ clinical finishing in front of goal proved to be the difference in the first half, and Henley found themselves 5-1 down just before the break.

In the second half Henley put in a strong performance with an impressive individual display from Johnny Taylor who created chances to reduce the deficit. However, Old Georgians’ defence held firm and no further goals were scored throughout the half.

• Henley Ladies 1sts suffered their heaviest defeat of the season as they went down 7-0 away to Buckingham Ladies 2nds.
