TYPICAL considerations for kitchen/bathroom refurbishments is that they will require the skills of professional installers and many can be found at the iKBBI — the Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom Installers.
Yes, you can try to manage it yourself and employ different trades — but there is a lot to consider to ensure things run smoothly,
writes Gary Evans.
Building regulations must be adhered to and work carried out safely. iKBBI members agree to work to a code of conduct set out by the institute, to ensure that they meet these requirements for their clients and organise the trades required to complete all aspects of an installation.
In my opinion, for a successful installation to be achieved it is best to have a company that provides a complete service from design through to completion.
Many customers ask us “Where can I see the products that are available on the market?” and to be honest it is nigh on impossible to see everything that is available.
That is where the experience and guidance of the designer comes into play, with recommendations, samples, brochures and use of CAD [Computer Aided Design] designs to help visualise the products and bathroom or kitchen layout in the room to be refurbished.
At GD Evans Interiors we provide a complete service, that involves an initial survey with design and product ideas, a CAD design to follow along with follow-up visits with samples to assist with making choices, a full itemised quote and full management of all the trades and delivery of the products to site, inspection of works daily and regular communication with clients before and during the installation.
A room familiarisation handover is carried out upon completion and all workmanship is guaranteed for one year.
We are also official members of the Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom Installers.
