THE riverside path at Caversham forms part of the Thames Path national trail.
The path runs the length of the River Thames, covering the 184 miles from its source in the Cotswolds to London.
It is characterised by its gentle, accessible terrain, mainly flat along the south bank of the river, switching to the north at Reading.
From Henley the trail to Caversham takes walkers through peaceful rural countryside taking in Marsh Lock and Shiplake Lock, before arriving in picturesque Sonning and Sonning Lock.
Despite being just a few miles from Reading, the Thames at Caversham retains its rural character.
