Riverside community is rooted in its rich history

CAVERSHAM is a suburb of Reading, in the royal county of Berkshire.

It lies on the north bank of the River Thames on the opposite bank from the rest of Reading. There are crossing points at Caversham Bridge, Reading Bridge and Caversham Lock (pedestrian only).

Caversham became part of Berkshire in 1911, before then it had been an urban district and part of Oxfordshire.

It was transferred to Berkshire and became part of the county borough of Reading. There is a number of distinct neighbourhoods: Caversham Heights, Lower Caversham, Caversham Park Village and Emmer Green.

With the exception of the centre of Caversham and Emmer Green, which were traditional villages, most of the development occurred during the 20th century.
