ABOUT 500 people attended the Kidmore End Primary School and St John the Baptist Church Christmas fair.
The event, which was held at the school in Chalkhouse Green Road, raised more than £4,000.
Attractions included pony rides, Santa’s grotto, a raffle, stalls with gifts, toys and books and mulled wine, mince pies and other refreshments. A barbecue was run by the New Inn.
Christmas crafts had been made for sale by members of the church congregation and some of the stalls featured goods made by people who live in the village.
Sonia Matthews, chairwoman of the Kidmore End School Association, said said: “The school was packed and we were really pleased with the amount raised.
“We made a big effort to try to bring the community together with the church doing half and the school doing half. At this time of year everyone has hectic lives, running and rushing around, so we thought we should focus on coming together.”
