Sir, — I share Nick Angelou’s concerns regarding the pothole repairs carried out in St Andrew’s Road, Henley, in January (Standard, March 3).
In consequence, as a result of my complaints to Oxfordshire County Council’s contractors, the “Dragon Patcher” returned last week (before Mr Angelou’s letter was published) to repair the work and this was, quite rightly, at no cost to the council taxpayer.
It is in the contractor’s interests to get the work completed correctly at the first visit and I am getting to the bottom of why these repairs failed so soon.
I don’t want this to occur anywhere else in Henley or the county.
I am always available to local constituents to raise these issues directly. I view such issues very seriously.
I strive for efficient and effective service delivery at all times. — Yours faithfully,
Councillor David Nimmo Smith
Cabinet member for environment, Oxfordshire County Council, St Andrew’s Road,
