It’s literature, innit

SHOPS and businesses in Wargrave took part in a weekend of events to mark the village library’s 90th anniversary.

A party was held at the library in Church Street before traders joined the celebrations by hosting special readings.

Emma Jane Hughes and Julia Tabrah performed “Essex Girls Read Pride and Prejudice” at the Hair Company, where they read extracts from Jane Austen’s classic novel in Essex personas.

A session called “Love Is In The Air”, featuring readings from Mills & Boon stories and love sonnets, was held at the Willow Dress Agency, while John Connell Antiques hosted readings from Charles Dickens novels.

A Harry Potter tea party was held at the Old Post Office café where guests were invited to come dressed as their favourite character from J K Rowling’s stories.
