It’s the Bob and Barry Cryer show

COMEDIAN Barry Cryer and his son Bob will give a talk on the book they wrote together at the Watermill Theatre near Newbury on February 7 — then join the audience for tea and cake in the bar.

During his long career Barry, a regular panellist on Radio 4’s I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, has written for the world’s greatest funny men including Dave Allen, Tommy Cooper and Spike Milligan.

Together with his son, the actor and writer Bob Cryer, Barry has created Mrs Hudson’s Diaries, a comic novel that re-imagines the Sherlock Holmes stories from the point of view of the famous landlady. The diaries reveal a portrait of life below stairs at 221b Baker Street that is by turns silly, slapstick and sentimental.

The special fund-raising event on Friday, February 7 is an opportunity to meet Barry and Bob, discover something of their partnership and their work and hear more about the unsung heroine of the Sherlock stories.

Lunch is available at the theatre from noon, and the Audience With Barry And Bob Cryer starts at 2pm.
