Immortalised in print for just £500

AUTHOR Amanda Jennings, from Binfield Heath, has offered fans the chance to appear as a character in her next novel.

AUTHOR Amanda Jennings, from Binfield Heath, has offered fans the chance to appear as a character in her next novel.

She was one of more than 70 authors who took part in the Get in Character eBay auction, an annual fund-raiser organised by CLIC Sargent, the children’s cancer charity.

The highest bidders for each author win the opportunity to have a character named after them and immortality in print.

Amanda offered two character names in her forthcoming book In Her Wake, which will be published later this year or early next year.

The story is about a 27-year-old old woman whose world is ripped apart when she discovers her reclusive mother and father are not, in fact, her real parents.

Amanada says: “In Her Wake is a story of loss, identity and the power of love to both destroy and unite. The characters to be named - one male or one female - are secondary and both bring moments of lightness to the story.”

The auction ended on Sunday and Amanda had more than 20 bids. The winning bid was for £500.
