Runners return for Marathon

ABOUT 2,500 men and women will run, jog or walk 100km along the Ridgeway from Lewknor to the Avebury Stone Circle

ABOUT 2,500 men and women will run, jog or walk 100km along the Ridgeway from Lewknor to the Avebury Stone Circle in Wiltshire in the Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones this weekend.

The ultra marathon is for people of all ages, fitness levels and sporting abilities. Some will take the course non-stop while others will stay overnight at the halfway point basecamp.

The Ridgeway is the oldest path in the UK stretching back more than 5,000 years.

The course record was set last year by elite runner Tom Payn, 35, who finished in eight hours and 20 minutes. Sarah Morwood, 32, from Devon, won the women’s race to the Stones and set a record in nine hours and 14 minutes.
