MORE than 1,000 people took part in the Henley half marathon and Henley Standard 10km in bright sunshine on Sunday.
Matthew Richards, 29, from Hackney, won the main race just weeks after winning the Maidenhead half marathon. He came third last year.
He said: “I’m delighted. I’m in good form and I felt stronger than last year. I do lots of local races because my dad lives in Hurst.”
Eight-times winner Ben Reynolds, 52, who lives in Harwell, finished second.
He said: “I’m pleased to be second but a little bit disappointed with the time. At 52 anything in the medals is good isn’t it?”
The 10km was won by Stephen Lamacraft, of Northfield End, Shiplake.
The 40-year-old fund manager said: “I enjoyed it. The conditions were nice and it’s a lovely course.”
The 34th annual event was organised by the Rotary Club of Henley Bridge.
