AS the current winter champion, Leo Robinson’s summer season is already showing great promise.

At round two of the MSA Bambino Championship the seven-year-old beat a strong field of competitors at the fast Shenington airfield circuit near Banbury where the 50cc karts reached speeds in excess of 45mph.

Robinson showed his intentions from the start, being comfortably the quickest driver in wet conditions in testing. It was dry for the point scoring races where the Rupert House pupil continued his strong form with first place in the first round, and two second place finishes in the subsequent heats.

As the highest point scorer, Robinson started the final at the front of the grid. He raced closely with the kart behind him as they pulled clear of the rest of the field over the seven minute race.

The Year 2 pupil eventually finished the final in second position. With the best overall points score considering the earlier rounds Robinson was the overall winner of the race meeting and is now second overall in the championship.
