FORMER royal organist Joseph Nolan will be playing in Caversham as part of a UK tour.

His recital will take place next Saturday, October 8 on the new Regent Classic organ at St Peter’s Church, Caversham.

Nolan is a leading organist, acclaimed for his recording of Widor’s Toccata, among the complete works of Charles-Marie Widor.

He was organist to Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal, St James’s Palace and performed at Buckingham Palace on many occasions before taking up the position of organist at Perth Cathedral, Australia.

The church’s new Regent Classic organ was installed last year after a fund-raising effort and plays an important part in the worship at St Peter’s, supporting the 30-member choir that sings at two Sunday services.

Tickets for the recital are £10 in advance from 07999 023825 or the parish office on 0118 947 1703 or £12 on the door on the night and include light refreshments.
