Concert to showcase the 'virtuoso violin'

Concert to showcase the 'virtuoso violin'

THE violin will be front and centre when Concerts in Caversham stage their next event at St Andrew’s Church.

Titled “The Virtuoso Violin”, the concert on Saturday, March 11, will see the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s co-leader, Tamas Andras, paired with Adrienne Black on piano.

A spokesman for the organisers said: “Tamas continues our series highlighting each member of the string instrument family. Many will remember his wonderfully rich tone, truly expressive, spirited playing and flawless technique.

“The programme will include works by Bach, Elgar, Schubert, Kreisler and Bartók. Come and enjoy what promises to be a truly inspirational evening, with our musicians introducing the programme in the warm acoustic and relaxed atmosphere of St Andrew’s Church. Afterwards you will be treated to a sumptuous finger-food feast and have a chance to chat to the musicians.”

The concert starts at 7.30pm at the Albert Road venue. Tickets are priced £15 to £19, including post-concert refreshments, and can be purchased in advance from Waltons the Jewellers in Prospect Street, Caversham (cash only and the shop is closed on Mondays). Admission for under-16s is free.
