dance company Flamenco Express is performing at the Kenton Theatre on Friday, March 28.
Characterised by hand-clapping, the rhythmic stomping of feet, graceful arm movements, castanets and the odd cry of “olé!”, Flamenco is a highly expressive traditional Spanish dance form.
According to Flamenco Express, the dance form is “music, sex and history all rolled into one - the fiercest expression of the human spirit ever devised”.
When they perform in Henley, dancers La Joaquina, Chris Clavo and Javier Macias will be joined by special guests Natalia Garcia Huidoboro and popular dancer Jorge Muelas, first soloist with the Belen Lopez Ballet. The show will appeal to fans of Flamenco as well as ballet and contemporary dance styles.
Flamenco Express launched the UK’s first dedicated Flamenco theatre in London in 1994. It now has a permanent base in the Greenwich Dance Agency.
