Henley Choral Society music director Benjamin Goodson is looking forward to conducting the Fauré Requiem and Poulenc Gloria Saturday, March 29 at St Mary’s Church, Henley.
Goodson said: “This programme brings together two staples of 20th century French choral music.
“Fauré’s ever-popular Requiem is just beautiful from beginning to end.
“By contrast, Poulenc’s Gloria explores a full palette of musical colours and moods: one moment it is playful, the next it is breathtakingly powerful in its total sincerity. They complement each other wonderfully.”
The 100-strong chorus will be joined by Elizabeth Cragg, a soprano with an international reputation who has been described as “a marvel” by the Sunday Times and ‘“sensational” by the Guardian. Her future engagements include performances at Garsington and Covent Garden.
