Rock covers band at pub for holiday

ROCK covers band Cracking Up are to play a charity fundraiser.

The four-piece will perform in a large marquee in the garden at the Unicorn pub in Colmore Lane, Peppard, on August bank holiday Monday 28 (1pm).

There will be a barbecue and activities to raise money for the Springwater food bank in Sonning Common.

Formed 18 months ago, the band are made up of Rob Ounsley (lead vocals, lead and rhythm guitars and harmonica), Tony Travis (bass guitar, lead and backing vocals), Mike Rowbottom (lead and backing vocals, lead and rhythm guitars and mandolin) and Peat Gregory (drums, lead and backing vocals).

Mike, from Stoke Row, says: “I like playing the Unicorn who have a really strong sense of community and believe in the charities they support.

“It’s also a wonderful space in the pub garden and I know we’ll have a good time. We hope that everyone who likes a bit of classic rock will enjoy it too. We’ll give you Santana, the Stones, Clapton, Hendrix, the Eagles and a host of others.

“Some of us write but we tend to think that there are so many great songs from those decades that we might as well play those. If we get tired of them we might start offering our own but that won’t happen anytime soon.”
