A PAIR of top American university choirs are to perform at local venues to raise money for local charities.
Touring is an important part of the study programme if you happen to sing in one of the acclaimed choirs of an American university or college. Such is the case for Westminster College Chamber Singers from Salt Lake City and Missouri State University Concert Chorale, who will both be visiting Oxfordshire as part of their European tours in the next few weeks.
Both tours include performances in some of the large and prestigious venues of the UK, such as St Paul’s, Durham and Gloucester Cathedrals, but as it is important for them to sing in a variety of venues, and to meet a variety of people, they are also performing in a number of small community venues where there is a chance to sing for a local cause.
Westminster College Chamber Singers will perform at St Leonard’s Church in Watlington on Saturday, May 10 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6 and can be obtained from Watlington Post Office. All proceeds from this concert will go to the church.
Meanwhile, the Missouri State University Concert Chorale will perform at St Mary the Virgin Church in Henley on Sunday, May 25 at 7.30pm in aid of Footsteps, a local charity which enables children and young adults with neurological disorders to access an innovative physiotherapy programme.
