Free gig for village

MUSICIAN Mike Hurst, a member of the original Springfields, will perform at a social event for residents at Nettlebed Village Club on November 22.

He will be delivering his promise given as part of an auction of promises organised by the Park Corner quiz team, which uses the club as its home venue.

Mr Hurst, who lives locally, contributed a private gig to the auction and the successful bidder decided to open it up to the whole village.

Other promises included a hand-embroidered Park Corner quiz team cushion and a private visit to New College, Oxford.

The auction raised £1,392.50, which will be presented to the Village Club committee at the social event for the club’s appeal to repair the roof.
