INTERNATIONALLY known clarinettist Janet Hilton is giving a solo concert followed by afternoon tea next Sunday (November 20).
Janet, who has lived in Checkendon since 2011, will play music from her latest CD Flying Solo and talk about her career spanning 50 years as a concert soloist and recording artist, which has taken her all over the world.
The venue for the concert, which starts at 3pm, is Caversham Heights Methodist Church in Highmoor Road.
Janet is also a noted teacher, who for 12 years was head of woodwind at the Royal College of Music in London, where she is still a professor of clarinet.
She continues to make regular visits abroad for concerts and masterclasses, most recently in Australia, the USA and, this September, in China.
Janet has recently revived an earlier interest in singing and now sings alto with Reading Bach Choir.
The proceeds of the concert will go to support the choir’s 50th anniversary season of concerts taking place this year.
Tickets for adults are £10, to include afternoon tea, or free plus a requested donation for the tea for young people up to age 18.
To book, email tickets@
