DARLING of the Henley folk scene Megan Henwood has stepped in to save the day at the Nettlebed Club.

Irish group De Dannan were due to play a gig on Monday night, but at the last minute rang to say they had been summoned to Washington to play for President Obama at the White House.

Club spokesman, Mike Sanderson, said: “Bands are often asked to go and play at the White House for the president, it was the same when President Bush was in power.

“So instead, we are putting on a very special show with national performers that are based locally.

“BBC folk award winner Megan Henwood, Jackie Oates and Feast of Fiddles members led by Hugh Crabtree will all be playing a set each and our resident acts will also be doing a spot.”

The gig starts at 8pm on Monday, March 4. Box office: 01628 636620.
