A FRENCH chorus will cross the Channel to join the South Chiltern Choral Society for their latest concert.

More than 150 singers will take part in the performance of Haydn’s The Creation at Reading Concert Hall on Saturday, April 27. The joint concert between the Sonning Common-based choir and the Ensemble Vocal de Meylan from Grenoble is their fourth collaboration.

The choirs will be joined by professional soloists, Helen Winter (soprano), a one-time finalist in the BBC Choir Girl of the year and who sang with the choral society last year at Douai Abbey, Ian Massa-Harris (tenor), who has had a variety of roles in both opera and oratorio including several with English National Opera, and Stephen Svanholm (bass), who, after completing his postgraduate operatic studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, has sung with many different companies here and in his native Sweden.

The concert will be conducted by Gwyn Arch and accompanied by the South Chiltern Orchestra, led by Ron Colyer.
