YOUNG people with a passion for singing are being invited to join Henley Youth Choir.

YOUNG people with a passion for singing are being invited to join Henley Youth Choir.

Workshops for the choir start again on Monday at d:two, Market Place, Henley. There are two choirs: junior for eight- to 11-year-olds which meets at 5.30pm and senior for 12- to 17-year-olds at 6.15pm. There are no auditions for either group and the first session can be taken as a free trial with no obligation.

Benjamin Goodson, who conducts the youth choirs, and is also musical director of Henley Choral Society, explains: “The youth choirs gave a fantastic first performance in front of 400 people at the end of last year and got a great response from the audience.

“We sing a variety of music and the aim is to have fun while learning to sing to a high standard. This term we have got some great music lined up, a special workshop with a superb South African singer Joyce Moholoagae, plus a performance at the Kenton to prepare for — now is a great time to join!”

Henley Youth Choir workshops administrator Fi Harding said: “We have about 35 people in the junior group and a dozen in the senior group but there is room for more.

“It has been fantastic to see the progress that has been made in just one term and to see the young people grow in confidence. They love singing together and I can’t think of a better or more supportive teacher than Ben.”

Potential singers should contact Mrs Harding on 07947 658252, email fi.harding@sky.com or visit www.henleychoralsociety.org.uk
