AGATHA Christie thriller The Secret Adversary will be the first production staged at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury.

The play will form part of the celebrations of the 125th anniversary of the author’s birth. It is the first time this particular story has been adapted for the stage.

The story follows the exploits of two of Christie’s fictional heroes, Tommy and Tuppence, in Twenties London. The pair have returned from the war, broke, and embark upon a daring business scheme as the Young Adventurers Limited.

Not unexpectedly, this line of work leads them into the world of political intrigue, criminal conspiracy and murder and mayhem.

The play will run from February 12 to March 21.
