Steeleye Span at the Wycombe Swan

Folk-rockers Steeleye Span will be performing songs from their Wintersmith album as well as some new songs and old favourites when they perform at the Wycombe Swan next Friday

Folk-rockers Steeleye Span will be performing songs from their Wintersmith album as well as some new songs and old favourites when they perform at the Wycombe Swan next Friday.

Their 22nd studio album Silversmith, original songs based on the writings of fantasy author Terry Pratchett, was warmly received. It put the group back in the charts and was described by one critic as a "marriage between the written word and music that is devastatingly superb".

A deluxe edition with four new tracks was released last year along with a DVD recorded at Salisbury Cathedral, with Terry Pratchett in the audience and later joining the group on stage.

Fans will get to see new violinist Jessie May Smart on the new tour. Jessie has worked with Katie Melua and on the X Factor. Another  relatively new member is composer, singer/songwriter and Steeleye lead guitarist Julian Littman. Julian has played and performed with artists  including Gerry Rafferty, Dexyâ??s  Midnight Runners and Sister Sledge.

Tickets for the show are £19.50 and £21.50. Box office 01494 512000 or ww.wycombeswan.co.uk
