HYMNS, pop music and opera all get the distinctive Wycombe Orpheus Male Voice Choir treatment next

HYMNS, pop music and opera all get the distinctive Wycombe Orpheus Male Voice Choir treatment next Saturday (May 9).

The nationally renowned choir returns to the Swan theatre in High Wycombe for its annual concert from 7.30pm and will include arrangements of well loved pieces such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Danny Boy, Panis Angelicus and African Prayer amongst many others.

Orpheus chairman Vic Baker said: “Why settle for a predictable Saturday night in? Come and listen to the beautiful, powerful and moving harmonies of the Wycombe Orpheus, and discover a whole new musical world of enjoyment.”

The evening will be interspersed with performances by prize winners from the recent Festival of Young Musicians, including vocal duo The Flower Girls and the RGS Trad Jazz Band. The Wycombe Orpheus was founded more than 90 years ago and has won many awards since, performing at venues including Wales’ Eisteddfod, the Royal Albert Hall and Cardiff’s Millennium Centre.

Tickets cost £13 to £19 from Mike Durham on 01628 620182 or treasurer@ wycombeorpheus.org.uk,  or on www.wycombe orpheus.org.uk/tickets
