Christians on board for Wallingford festival

RUGFEST, Wallingford’s summer music festival, is returning for a seventh successful year.

RUGFEST, Wallingford’s summer music festival, is returning for a seventh successful year.

Hosted by Wallingford Rugby club, this ever-expanding summer festival offers fans the very best musical talent from across the country, tonnes of activities for all the family, and a superb range of food and drink on Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20.

Last year’s event included a standout set from Hue and Cry and this year the organisers are delighted to announce that The Christians will be headlining Saturday’s stage.

The soul-influenced group — whose hits include Hooverville, Forgotten Town, Born Again and Harvest for the World — join Land of the Giants and Rugfest favourites Will and the People on the bill.

A festival spokesman emphasised that Rugfest is “truly a family event”, adding: “Little ones will be spoilt for choice this year, with everything from trampolines to Jan’s Blackboard Van, bouncy castles, bungee runs, blow-up boxing and — if they’re still standing — a two-hour disco just for kids.”

Ticket prices range from £10 for the Friday night session, £15 for a Saturday day pass, and £20 for a weekend pass. Under-16s accompanied by an adult go free. On-site camping is £2.50 per person per night.
