Picnic at the proms

MUSICIAN and BBC radio presenter Mike Read will open the Sue Ryder hospice Picnic at the Proms on September 12.

The line-up of musical acts include David Buckingham, Custom Guitar Rebels and Opera Anywhere. David is a classical and flamenco guitarist and has performed with Placido Domingo and The Gipsy Kings and regularly works at The Royal Opera and Royal Ballet.

Custom Guitar Rebels is a covers band featuring former Springfields guitarist, Andy Marlow, while Opera Anywhere perform unique versions of operas old and new.

The performances will be followed by a live screening from the Royal Albert Hall of end of The Proms. This is the final week to buy tickets at £20. Those that buy before August 31 will be entered into a prize draw to win a Proms Picnic package, which includes: a chauffeur driven Jaguar XE to and from the event, a luxury hamper for four, a bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne and two extra Proms Picnic tickets.

The draw will be made on September 1 and the winner will be notified by phone. T&Cs apply, available on request. From September 1 tickets cost £25 for an adult, £10 for children under 16 or £20 a head for groups of ten or more. A free drink is included with every adult ticket.
