'Spirit of Christmas' is strong in Henley

'Spirit of Christmas' is strong in Henley

ORGANISERS have thanked people in Henley for showing “fantastic” support for an upcoming Christmas concert set to raise funds for research to fight muscle-wasting conditions.

Hundreds of tickets have been snapped up for the Henley Spirit of Christmas evening taking place at 7pm next Thursday (December 8) at the Christ Church Centre in Reading Road.

Offering a joyful welcome to the festive season, the event will feature a host of Christmassy delights — including readings and music from Aliquando Chamber Choir, St Mary’s School Choir and surprise guests.

Since it launched in 2008 the annual event has raised £26,260 towards Muscular Dystrophy UK’s work.

The charity’s Thames Valley branch, chaired by Peter O’Sullivan, has been at the core of running the event year on year.

Muscular Dystrophy UK supports the 70,000 families nationwide living with muscle-wasting conditions and funds groundbreaking research into treatments.

Anneke Liefting, Muscular Dystrophy UK’s regional development manager for the South East, said: “We are absolutely delighted that this year’s event has been shown such tremendous support by people in and around Henley. We hope you will join us to get the Christmas countdown started. It’s going to be an absolutely fantastic evening for all the family.”

A limited number of tickets are still available for the event. Standard tickets are £8 and VIP tickets £15.
