A FAMILIAR face is coming to Nettlebed Folk Song Club on Monday (March 21).

Multi-talented singer and musician John Tams is an actor whose CV includes roles in

Sharpe
and

War Horse
.

He was also responsible for the music in ITV1 series

Jericho
earlier this year.

On Monday evening he will be appearing with pianist and harmony singer Barry Coope at Nettlebed Village Club in the high street.

Hailed by

Mojo
magazine as “one of the ultimate British songwriters”, Tams has had a career spanning four decades in every medium.

A member of the Albion Band and lead singer with Home Service, he has also enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with Barry Coope of Coope, Boyes and Simpson fame.

His appearance in

Sharpe
saw him acting alongside Sean Bean as rifleman Daniel Hagman.

And he provided much of the music for the West End stage adaptation of

War Horse
, based on book by Michael Morpurgo and famously filmed by Steven Spielberg.

A recent gig at the Borderline in London saw Tams and Coope wow the club’s director Barry Everitt, who said: “Their voices sounded perfect — rich, powerful and full. The new songs are all classics — what a wonderful evening. And what a lovely audience. Such quiet for the music and such gusto in applause. An amazing night at the Borderline.”

Monday’s concert starts at 8pm. Tickets are £13.50 in advance and £14.50 on the door. To book, call 01628 636620 or visit the website www.nettlebedfolkclub.co.uk
