The Angling Trust has donated £200 towards the campaign against a hydro-electric power plant at Goring weir. It fears the project, proposed by the village’s sustainability group, will reduce oxygen in the river and stop fish from spawning. Goring Parish Council has launched a High Court challenge against South Oxfordshire District Council’s decision to allow the scheme. The work is on hold until this is resolved and opponents are raising money to support the legal bid.
