Don’t feed red kites warning

PEOPLE are being urged to stop feeding red kites on Watlington Hill or leaving food out for them.

PEOPLE are being urged to stop feeding red kites on Watlington Hill or leaving food out for them.

National Trust ranger Jerry Page said the birds couldn’t differentiate between visitors’ picnics and food that is deliberately put out for them. The leftovers may contain harmful additives or salt.

Feeding them can also change their behaviour, he said.

In July parish councillor Roger Beattie said he had seen a red kite attacking someone and drawing blood.
