DOZENS of people attended an event in Charvil to encourage residents to explore the village.

Get Charvil Walking, which was organised by the parish council, was held on Sunday and involved a walk around the village’s country park and nature trail, starting and finishing at the pavilion in Park Lane.

They walked returned for tea and biscuits. Parish councillor Lauren McCann, who helped organise the event, said: “We walked for about an hour and ointed out all the highlights around the nature trail and lake.

“We had a man of 86 and a little girl of six so there was quite a variety and people seemed to really enjoy it.

“They have already asked me to do another one and maybe I will try to do them on a quarterly basis. Those that came along said it was nice to meet new people. I did it to show what’s on our doorstep as a lot of people haven’t been round the lake before. It brings the community together.”
